If you’re pursuing a Software Solution Startup and you don’t know where to start but you have some initial questions about the process in general then you’ve found the right blog.
We aim to outline the frequently asked questions we’ve received during the project discovery process to provide this information transparently and efficiently for your convenience. We will cover a summary of some of the common terms used, as well as provide answers to the most common questions we receive.
A: Funded Startups, Small to Large Enterprises, and Government Agencies!
Since its incorporation in 2014, DivNotes has served a diverse client base. We’ve completed dozens of Minimum Viable Product software launches as well as launched numerous Enterprise Resource Planning (ERPs) Platforms for SMBs (Small-Medium Sized Businesses) and we’ve produced solutions for Government organizations.
A: DivNotes is Industry agnostic, we can consult on almost any industry!
We’ve produced software for almost all industries at this point, from Education Technology (EdTech), Marketing Technology (Marktech), Health Technology (HealthTech), Financial Technology (FinTech), and beyond! Rather than limiting ourselves to a particular industry, we focus on the end-user and the solution itself instead.
A: We maintain our relationship with our Clients for 5 Years on average.
Over the last decade that DivNotes has been in business, most of our new clientele comes from word of mouth and referrals. As a result, we typically retain our clients for an average of 5 Years. One of our clients has been collaborating with us for over 9 years at this time. Building Software can be a long journey filled with many winding turns and challenges. We are no strangers to those challenges and we are prepared to walk that road closely alongside our clients proudly.
A: DivNotes is proud to act in a fiduciary role alongside the Business team in the form of a Software Innovation Partner.
We care deeply about the Software Solution’s big picture and want to encourage investments into the technology that provides the most value and return for the effort.
By representing the best interests of the business, DivNotes acts as a fiduciary role of the software company. We are “Your Software Innovation Partner” and what this means to us is that we work WITH the decision makers towards the end goal or objective.
We consult, advise, and guide you through the software journey – we aren’t just “code monkeys”, we will collaborate with the business team to uncover the most valuable outcome or suggest investments and improvements to the technology in question that we believe will provide the business with the best return on investment (ROI).
A: It depends! How long do you need it to take?
Depending on the particular software requirement specifications (SRS) of the solution, a project can take 5 minutes or 5 years. It greatly depends on what is required of the software and the timelines can change depending on the evolving needs of the business in question.
Software is an iterative process, there is never a finished product. There is always room for improvement. As soon as “perfection” is reached, there will always be another feature to add, changes, versions becoming outdated, and/or technology updates to manage and implement.
A: How much does WHAT cost? It depends on what you require.
We offer Team Augmentation and Consulting Services with many of our resources available at different expertise and experience levels to choose from. Each resource has unique rates depending on the role, skillset level, experience, seniority, specialties, and expertise.
We have a diverse team with many roles consisting of Product Developers and Managers, UI/UX Designers, Project Managers, Backend Developers, Frontend Developers, Quality Assurance Testing Specialists (QAT), User Acceptance Testing Specialists (UAT), Development Operations (DevOps) Engineers as well as fractional Chief Technology Officers and Chief Product Officers available for your project.
Depending on the sophistication level of the software, we might be able to get away with an intern or we might require one of our team leads or “Aces” to work on the project.
For a consulting project, another factor is the team size. To be more cost-effective, for example, we could perhaps suggest that the Team Lead be allocated to the project part-time to manage a team of Juniours instead of allocating two (2) Seniour Software Engineers.
Speak with our Sales team to discuss your project’s needs and we would be happy to share our Rate Cards for the roles you require.
A: We are a hybrid, fully-remote team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Our core staff including our Executives, Management, some Developers, and our Sales teams are located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We have some of our resource pools available outside of the country for additional software development support.
A: Yes, we have availability to take on more projects.
DivNotes has resources available year-round ready to get started on your project. Like with most software projects, there is always a need to ramp up or down production and we offer this flexibility to our clientele that require more agility.
A: The earlier the better! It’s always an advantage to start planning sooner rather than later.
Whenever one takes on a software solution project, it’s critical that planning for success occurs as early on in the project’s process as possible. Involving DivNotes early on can significantly increase the likelihood of success because DivNotes can get involved with the Product and Project Planning process. With software, details can be critical, and having the scope and implementation plan well-documented and organized is essential. Ideally, Product Development should begin well before the UX/UI Design process begins and those should both be complete before any Software Development should commence.
Remember, failing to plan is planning to fail!
